Question: What is the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Paris?

Answer:  Indulge in one of the best brunches in the city at Le Meurice, a Dorchester Collection hotel. Don’t worry– you don’t need to be a guest at the hotel to enjoy one of the most incredible meals you’ll experience in Paris; just make a reservation and arrive hungry!

Paris is one of our favorite destinations for exploring, shopping, eating, and taking cooking and wine classes, so it was no surprise that we ended up at Le Meurice one Sunday afternoon after having arrived in the city that morning from the U.S.

The inspiration behind booking brunch at Le Meurice was due to the rising star of its famed pastry chef, Cédric Grolet, one of the most influential chefs making his mark in the world of pastry. His creations are truly works of art and display unprecedented skill, imagination, and talent, but his flavor combinations and commitment to balancing simplicity and complexity in ingredients take his art to the next level. Delicious can’t begin to sum up his Pain au Chocolat. His pastries taste even better than they look, which seems to be an impossible feat. But pastries are only the beginning. This brunch consisted of an array of cold salads and fresh seafood, sweet and savory main dishes, lovely fruit, the most prized jams made by internationally known master patissière Christine Ferber, and a plethora of dessert options.

Brunch here is a true experience and can serve as a sole meal for the day like it did for us. There is no rush, so diners spend hours of their afternoon celebrating course after course, sipping coffee and fresh juices, lingering over an impeccable meal, and socializing. It’s the French way to appreciate a meal by savoring it slowly and celebrating every morsel. The next time you find yourself in Paris on a Sunday, indulge in the splendor of brunch at Le Meurice.
