My trip to Iceland prior to Covid was incredibly rewarding because I learned how Iceland has harnessed the benefits of its environment to make it one of the most sustainable countries in the world. As a teacher, this information was not only fascinating but meaningful to bring back to my classroom. If you are looking for fun, fulfilling day trips from Reykjavik, which is what I did, book a tour or two with Season Tours and ask for Tyffi as your guide. I hired him for a day of sightseeing to Vik, one of the most scenic spots in all of Iceland. Tyffi was so kind and wanted us to learn all we could about Iceland and each sight we visited. He is personable and proud of his country and heritage, and he is passionate about teaching visitors information that can’t be learned without a resident guide. Tyffi wanted us to have an experience climbing a glacier, even though that wasn’t part of our tour, so we took a detour, slapped some borrowed crampons on our hiking boots, and set off.  An accomplished photographer, Tyffi shot photos of us enjoying the incredulous surroundings and sent them to us. It was a magical day full of waterfalls, glaciers, wild horses, and craggy shores with a delicious lunch of the best potato-leek soup I’ve ever tasted. Season Tours gets very high reviews from TripAdvisor, too, so read those as well. Since I have done this personally, I can tell you this tour company is special because of the personable service they provide. Iceland is a destination for everyone– families, couples, and friends– because there is so much to see and do. The people are amazingly welcoming, the food is fresh and delicious, and the scenery is spectacular. If you decide on this extraordinary place, definitely go to Vik, and also give Season Tours a chance to show you their land, their way. https://www.seasontours.is/
